ANKARA, Turkey, July 7 (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that Greenland needs to be managed by america, not Denmark, as NATO leaders gathered for a summit in Turkey.

Trump’s assertions that the U.S. should purchase or management Greenland, a semi-autonomous Danish territory, sparked tensions between Washington and Copenhagen – each founding NATO members – and extra broadly throughout Europe. The problem has since moved to a diplomatic observe.

“That needs to be managed by america, not by Denmark,” Trump instructed reporters throughout a gathering with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.

Trump stated the problem of management over Greenland had harmed U.S. ties with NATO.
