Johannesburg, South Africa – Might 2024 – The thirteenth Provincial Chapter of the Blessed Michael Rua Vice-Province of Southern Africa (eSwatini, Lesotho and South Africa) concluded with a Eucharist of thanksgiving, celebrated on 21 Might, , on the Bosco Youth Centre in Walkerville, Johannesburg. A complete of 18 Chapter members, along with two younger Salesians, gathered for 4 days to debate the theme: “PASSIONATE ABOUT JESUS CHRIST, DEDICATED TO THE YOUNG. To be able to dwell our Salesian vocation faithfully and prophetically.“ For the primary time, the Provincial Chapter of the AFM Vice-Province was ready by a preparatory fee (comprising the moderator, Fr Lingoane Tlaile and two different members) ,in place since final November. Through the Chapter, the main focus was on reflection in preparation for the twenty ninth Common Chapter in addition to the suggestions offered by the seven native communities, on the standing of the AFM Vice-Province. The Salesians have thought creatively about how you can relaunch the Salesian charism, with deliberations on strengthening the Salesian presence within the many faculties, with the beginning of a Youth Centre in Cape City (Lansdowne) and with the challenge of a Youth Ministry formation centre in Johannesburg. On the finish of the Chapter, Fr Bonginkosi Nhleko was chosen as Delegate to the GC29, whereas Fr Mojela Fihlo was chosen as substitute.
