The Madlanga Fee of Inquiry into police corruption has praised the arrest of a suspect linked to the homicide of the person often called Witness D.
Marius van der Merwe was gunned down in his driveway in December, with police confirming an arrest was made this weekend.
The suspect is due within the Brakpan Justice of the Peace’s Courtroom on Monday.
‘Guarantee justice for the households’
Van der Merwe appeared earlier than the fee underneath the title Witness D on 14 November and was murdered on 5 December.
The fee welcomed the arrest and reward Van der Merwe for his position in aidng the fee’s goals.
“His bravery helped to uncover allegations of great wrongdoing within the Metropolis of Ekurhuleni and the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Division,”

Alleged shooter arrested
Police confirmed on Sunday that the suspect arrested is believed to the Van der Merwe’s shooter.
A warrant of arrest was issued earlier within the week and executed on Saturday.
