Polokwane – An argument between brothers over the property left behind by their late mother and father has landed 53-year-old police officer, Evans Mongwe, in scorching water.
Throughout the heated argument, the police officer, initially reported as being from the Hawks, allegedly pointed a firearm at his 48-year-old youthful brother.
Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba mentioned the incident allegedly occurred at Mafarana Village within the Letsitele policing space, Mopani District, on 19 July 2026.
The matter was reported to the police, and the accused was arrested on Sunday, 26 July 2026.
His service firearm, along with rounds of ammunition, was confiscated.
On Tuesday, 28 July 2026, the 53-year-old police officer appeared earlier than the Nkowankowa Justice of the Peace’s Court docket, the place he was granted bail of R2 500.
The matter, which is being investigated by the Unbiased Police Investigative Directorate, was adjourned to 26 August 2026.
